Last week Ridgid released a new series of PEX crimpers.ย The Ridgid Close Quarters ASTM F1807 PEX Crimp Tools (model #43853 and #43858) have ย handle openings that are roughly 70% smaller than standard PEX crimp tools. The idea is that contractors will be able to maneuver the tool into tight spacesโa situation that is not uncommon in residential and small commercial plumbing jobs. The tool is available in both ยฝโ (43853) and ยพโ (43858) sizes, so theyโre perfect for both potable water and radiant heating applications. The tools feature glass-filled polycarbonate E3 handles (which on other tools weโve found to be both strong and grippy). They also feature a handy built-in โGo/No-Goโ gauge that folds right into the handle. An adjustable lock screw mean you can also easily calibrate the crimpers when needed.
Ridgid Close Quarters ASTM F1807 PEX Crimp Tools Features
These are made for use with ASTM F1807 copper crimp ring PEX tubing connections, and you can find them at just about any Ridgid dealer in the US or Canada. As youโd expect, they come with theย Ridgid Lifetime Warranty against Material Defects and Workmanship.
The Ridgid Close Quarters PEX Crimp Tools are a nice addition to an already decent PEX crimping line-up. Ridgidโs current crimpers handle ASTM F1807 PEX from ยฝโ โ 1โณ sizes and they also have battery-operated Press Tools with PEX jaws that will tackle ยฝโ โ 1-ยผโ connections.
Pricing hasnโt been determined, but for reference, the standard PEX crimpers go for around $132 each.
