One of the new products we saw on our trip to Festoolโs headquarters in Germany was the Festool SYSLite Duo. Weโve been using theย Duo for well over a year now. Itโs impressive as a work light when thereโs a job to do. But the light is so good that we also use them to light our video sets for Pro Tool Reviews and Shop Tool Reviews. Why is that?
Output
To get good lighting on the jobsite (or video set), you need pretty high output. 1000 lumens sounds great, but itโs not going to do the trick when youโre painting an entire wall. The Festool SYSLite Duo packs 8000 lumens to light up your workspace.
Throw
Whether youโre talking about a flashlight, work light, or area light, the throw is how the beam is cast. It can be a tight spot that travels a long distance, a broad throw at 180 degrees or a combination. As a work light, the SYSLite Duo casts a broad throw both wide and tall. This gives you the ability to have multiple trimย guns working on the baseboards and crown molding at the same time, a drywaller installing or finishing a wall, or a painter covering it.
Color Accuracy
If youโre new to the light quality conversation, youโre going to hear a lot about 5000K. 5000K (K is Kelvin) is the color temperatureย and that particular measure falls squarely in the middle of the visible spectrum. Take a cooler temperature and the lightย heads toward blue. Get warmer and it heads toward orange. By keeping it balanced at 5000K, you get accurate color identification. Thatโs important when youโre trying to identify the correct wire in a box or see what the paint looks like once itโs dry.
So kick back and check out the video to see what we love about the Festool SYSLite Duo and a couple things youโll want to consider before making the purchase.
