How Does The Klein Magnetizer Work?

Taking up just enough space to fit on a keyring, the Klein Magnetizer can clip to any toolbag or backpack. The compact and lightweight magnetizer uses rare-earth magnets to magnetize or demagnetize your screwdrivers and screwdriver bits. One side of the magnetizer has a hole for magnetizing, while the other end has three holes for demagnetizing drivers of various sizes.

The process is simple. To magnetize your screwdriver, insert it fully into the magnetizer slot. Klein asks that you avoid rotating the shaft as you slowly pull the driver back out.

Likewise, to demagnetize, slide your screwdriver into one of the demagnetization slots. There are some options on the demagnetizer end, but pick the size closest to your bit size. Again, avoid rotating the shaft as you pull the screwdriver out of the demagnetizer.

The Klein Magnetizer fits most screwdriver types, including precision screwdrivers, 1/4 Slotted, #2 Phillips, and #3 Phillips heads. No batteries are required to operate the magnetizer.

Final Thoughts

I’ve been horsing around with the Klein magnetizer for a little while now, and it works exactly as advertised. The magnetizing and demagnetizing processes are simple and effective. And, I can attach it to my backpack, or on a ring on my tool bag. At around 10 bucks, this seems like a great little accessory to have for those times when you come across a screwdriver or bit without a magnetic tip. It’s also extremely helpful for those times when you’d prefer something without a magnetic charge, like when you’re working around metal shavings. Ultimately, you might not need to use this very often, but it’s super helpful to have around for those rare occasions when you’d like to reverse the magnetism of your tools.
