Spyderco Double Bevel C174GP Folding Knife

When I first saw the new Spyderco C174GP Double Bevel Tactical Folding Knife, the double bevel design and hollow ground near the handle immediately stood out to me. It’s almost nothing like the Spyderco Paramilitary 2 we looked at, but I love the uniqueness of this folder—and that’s what’s great about Spyderco’s diversity. This unique design was conceived by Bob Terzuola, the man known as the father of handmade tactical folding knives. Near the tip, the blade is full-flat-ground and leads the way to its full-thickness spine. This creates a blade with excellent geometry and low-friction cutting characteristics, while maintaining high strength.

Features

Skeletonized stainless steel liners form the foundation for both the handle and the improved Walker LinerLock mechanism. After thorough experimentation, Terzuola recognized that the knife could lock more securely and hold stronger by modifying the flat blade ramp to a concave shape. The handle is coated with G-10 scales to ensure a solid grip, and a four-position hourglass clip allows the knife to be carried tip-up or down on either side.
