From The First Cut to the Final Loop
We put Southwireโs new Forged Romex Stripper to work in our shop. So far, we really like what we see.ย The new forged Romex stripper is made from heavy-dutyโฆyou guessed itโฆforged steel.

Near the fulcrum, cutting edges make quick work of trimming up your Romex before you start the stripping process.ย Of course, its main feature is being able to strip both 14/2 and 12/2 Romexโwhich it does with ease.
But itโs not just a Romex Stripper. Once you pull off the outer jacket, you can prep the wires inside with the included single 14 and 12-gauge strippers. Youโll also find a wire loop on one jaw and 6-32/8-32 screw shears.
As you make your way up to the jaw tips, itโs obvious these are far from your cheap stamped steel wire strippers. Wide jaws with solid knurling can accommodate Romex and help you grab, pull, and twist wire (including Romex) to your heartโs content.
The ergonomically-shaped handles feature an upward curve that contours well into your hand. Our Pros feet the grips are comfortable and each has a tether hole at the end.
These strippers are spring loaded and thereโs a lock to keep them closed. Our electricians are split over spring versus no spring handles, so thatโs a call to make for yourself.
Look for Southwireโs Forged Romex Strippers under model SNM1214HD and expect to pay around $31. Southwire backs these with a lifetime guarantee.
