Hammer Time

How many different ways can this particular wheel be reinvented? Well, itโ€™s not so much that Southwire is reinventing it as specializing it. The Southwire Electricianโ€™s Hammer has a few design features that make it better suited for electrical work.

The first thing youโ€™ll likely notice is the claw design on the back of the business end. Southwire incorporates a design that lets you remove Romex staples. These two thin, pincer-like claws get under staples easily. Thereโ€™s still a tapered groove to get under a nail head, but the staple remover is the main electrician-specific highlight.

Southwire builds the 18 oz head from drop forged steel, and theyโ€™ve left the face with a smooth finish to keep you from marking up the striking surface too badly.

The Southwire Electricianโ€™s Hammer also features and extended neck. This gets you into outlet boxes and other tighter spaces a bit more easily. And, with the fiberglass handle, youโ€™ll experience less vibration with each strike. The handle is lightweight and helps keep the overall weight to a modest 1.68 lbs.

Finally, the handle includes a comfortable grip that has some light texturing. With or without gloves, you get a secure grip. For added safety at height, the handle has a tether hole for you to string a lanyard through.
