Can anything good come out of Walmart? Skil seems to think so. Beginning in May they will release their new corded oscillating multi-tool, dubbed the Skil Multi-Tasker. Itโs a 2-amp tool that works with the new Bosch OIS systemย accessories. The SKIL Oscillating Multi-Tasker 1400-02 comes as part of an 11-pieceย multi-tool kit that is meant to be a go-to or catch-all tool for home improvement professionals as well as the casual user or do-it-yourselfer.
All in all, Skil has positioned the tool at a price point and in a configuration that makes it very palatable and desirable for those who still havenโt jumped into the corded oscillating multi-tool revolution. If you havenโt yet used an oscillating multi-tool, this product may sell you on its benefits.
Skil Oscillating Multi-tasker Tool Features
The tool includes the expected red/black stylings of Skilโs trademark colors and has a no-mar head to protect furniture, walls, and workpieces fromย scratches when in use. An integrated dust extraction portย means that, unlike most other multi-tools in this price range, dust collection is greatly facilitated with the use of a shop vac. The presence of rubber overmold across the lower handle area and top of the tool gives it a soft grip and makes it comfortable to use.
As we mentioned previously, the SKIL Multi-Tasker uses the Bosch OIS (Oscillatingย Interface System), a 12-pin interface that provides a solid fit for accessories โ transferring the maximum energy from the tool to the blade, scraper, or sanding pad. There is also an included adapter to allow users to take their existing (non-OIS) multi-tool blades to fit onto the Multi-Tasker.
The 1400-02 comes with the following OIS accessories in addition to the sanding pad and included sanding sheets:
