No matter how many reviews we do, one of the things we can never seem to get enough of are driver bits. While nearly all manufacturers have brandedย bits which they sell,ย most donโ€™t do anything profound with bitย storage. The Ryobi DOCKit drilling and driving kitย offers a familiar assortment of bits, but stores them in a case that stores neatly in a wall-mounted tray with up to fourย companions.

Ryobi DOCKit Drilling and Driving Kit with Storage Tray Features

Ryobi DOCKit bit set openThe Ryobi DOCKit drilling and driving kit with storage tray holdsย over 50ย bits forย drilling and driving. Theย DOCKit tray can mount to a wall and can hold up to 5 Ryobiย accessory kits. While that may not seem impressive, Ryobi designed it with all of its previous models in mindโ€”that means the Ryobi DOCKit storage tray will hold nearly all of the currently shippingย Ryobi accessory kits. The trayโ€™s versatile design allows the user to either hang the tray on a wall with the built-in hanging holes or setย it on top of your Milwaukee tool chest. Theย cases store and remove easily from the DOCKit tray, so itโ€™s just a really good system if you want to keep things organized.

Using the Ryobi DOCKit Drilling and Driving Kit

Ryobi DOCKit bitsTheย 56-piece Ryobi DOCKit kit gives youย black oxide driverย bits and an assortment of drillย bits that will work with wood, metal, orย plastic. The included Ryobiย driver bitsย includeย Phillips, flat, hex, and square bits. The best thing may be how easy they are to remove and replace, however. Having used other manufacturerโ€™s products they canโ€™t seem to get that perfect mix of secure bit storage and easy removability. The drill bits slide in and out with little to no difficulty, and the bits snap in and out without having to mess with rubber flaps that donโ€™t want to release (You know who you are!). Ryobi has just about locked upย accessibility. For knowing youโ€™re grabbing the right case, each side of the Ryobi DOCKitย kit has an imprinted label so it can be easily identifiedย when stored in theย DOCKit storage tray.

We used these bits for a number of tasks, from actually mounting the DOCKit tray to a 2ร—4 stud to re-drilling strike platesย andย hingesย onย some exterior woodย doors. The bits in this kit arenโ€™t impact-rated, so using them with self tapping screws on sheet metal wonโ€™t be optimal, but for wood applications they did very well. Cam-out was minimal, and the price and performance ratio was very good. You can pick up this kitโ€”which includes the DOCKit trayโ€”for just under $20 at The Home Depot.
