RotoSaw+ Spiral + Connect Kit SS560VSC-50 Preview

Randall Coe made a recent move from Bosch and is now heading up things at RotoZip. RotoZip hasnโ€™t been idle of late, and at this yearโ€™s Bosch Media Event, they were present to show off a few new items. Chief among them was the new SS560vsc-50 RotoSaw+ย Spiral + Connect Kit. This is a brand new tool that is debuting in October 2012 and which features what Bosch claims is a new 6.0-amp Spiral+ Saw, the most powerful tool of its kind on the market. The tool has a variable speed dial with feedback and ranges from 15โ€“30,000 rpm. It also uses something called โ€œConstant Speed Technologyโ€ which will allocate additional power to maintain speed during a more difficult in hardwood, or when encountering a knot, for example.

The tool uses the RZ Connect System, and the kit includes a ZipMate cut-off connect head that is compatible with all RotoZip connect attachments and accessories. The handle of the tool is lined with soft rubberized grip housing, so itโ€™s very comfortable to use. Retailing at $129, RotoZip is nearly doubling the price of some other systems on the market; however, they are also upping the power and offering a potential accessory smorgasbord so as to make this single tool much more versatile in daily use. And thatโ€™s what Coe communicated as a chief design goal during the event.

In light of the recent downturn in the housing market, RotoZip wanted to design some solutions that would transform their admittedly under-used tools into multi-use devices.

By providing more power and adding accessories like the RZ Connect system, this seems to be a very good move.

Another nice addition to the RotoZip line is the new ZipDiscs. There is a Flap Disc (ZD-M1) and a Coarse Disc (ZD-C1) that are both designed for aggressive material removal, whether it be rust and paint or sticky adhesives. The new Discs also utilize a non-woven design, which helps them avoid clogging and maintain a longer lifespan. Those discs will retail for around $8 each.
