The Pecos Table

I recently had the opportunity to try out the Pecos Table, and after using it, I had to share what I learned. At first glance, it may look like just another multi-purpose indoor/outdoor table. But take a closer look and youโ€™ll find that thereโ€™s much more than meets the eye with this durable, feature-rich, Made in the USA design.

Pecos Table Basics

The Pecos Table

Starting with the work surface, the table is 38 inches long and 20 inches deep. That makes the entire area accessible without having to move your feet. Itโ€™s made from HDPE rotomolded plastic. The decision to use HDPE is important, since itโ€™s a food-safe surface material.

Inside, the table top is foam-infused. This makes it dense and durable while keeping the overall weight down to 25 pounds, including the legs. Itโ€™s light enough to carry with one hand, yet ridiculously tough in any environment.

When you add the legs, it stands 34 inches tallโ€”a perfect working height for most people.

1/4-Turn Leg Interface

Looking at the table while itโ€™s set up, it may appear that the legs will fold in, but they donโ€™t. They screw in place, and the design is genius. It takes just a 1/4-turn of each leg for it to secure in place against the rubber gasket that keeps them from loosening. Itโ€™s a quick process that rivals the setup speed of a table with folding legs.

The legs are made from aircraft-grade aluminum. Combined with super-durable bolt and socket connection points and the toughness of the table top, the Pecos Table can support up to 3200 pounds. No, I didnโ€™t add an extra zeroโ€”this thing can literally hold a Toyota Corolla!

Adjustable Legs and Orbital Feet

Built for the outdoors, each of the feet can extend up to 1 1/2 inches, and the bottoms are orbital to help you set up a stable platform on uneven ground.

Pecos Table Leg Storage

Raising the benchmark even higher, the legs store on the underside of the table top. They slide in and lock securely thanks to spring-loaded latches. This makes for a sleek storage footprint, while integrated non-slip handles aid in carrying the table to and from its workspace. Plus, when you lean the table against a wall, four rubber stoppers keep it from sliding down.

Pecos Table Bonus Features

The build and the weight capacity of the table impressed me. However, thereโ€™s still more to it.

Liquid Channel

Around the top, youโ€™ll notice a channel running around the rim. This is specifically designed to direct fluids to a controlled exit point where they can be captured. In my corner of the world, thereโ€™s a lot of fish cleaning and BBQ prepping in the tableโ€™s future, so thatโ€™s a helpful feature to have.

Tie-Down Point

Underneath, there are four tie-down points for ratchet or cinch straps. While thatโ€™s not something you normally see on a portable table, dedicated points to strap it down inside the bed of your truck or onto the deck of your boat are added insurance that it stays put while youโ€™re on the move.

Thereโ€™s another very cool thing for those of us who enjoy spending time on and around the water. Even though the table weighs 25 pounds and can maintain a standing position in 60 MPH winds, it floats! Whether you mistimed the tide or underestimated the wake of that 42-foot Freeman, if the table ends up in the water, it wonโ€™t sink to the bottom. That wonโ€™t help the rest of your gear, but at least youโ€™ll get your Pecos Table back.

Purpose-Built Accessories for Your Pecos Table

Pecos Table Accessory Interface

Beyond basic functionality, the Pecos Table is also an accessory platform, making it so much more versatile than other tables. The edge of the table has a form that mates with clips on the accessories to lock them in place. Simply set the top edge of the clip against the top edge of the table, and then push it into the side until you feel it click in. Reverse the process when youโ€™re ready to remove them.

Here are the accessories you can currently add:

  • Paper towel holder
  • Trash bag ring
  • Beverage holder
  • Utility basket
  • Hang-it hook
  • HDPE cutting board (black or white)
  • Richlite cutting board

Should You Buy It?

The Pecos Table is built to withstand the toughest environments and has a design thatโ€™s more versatile than any other outdoor table Iโ€™ve used. Plus, thereโ€™s the confidence that comes from its Made in the USA build. So, who is it a good fit for?

Clearly, itโ€™s perfect for outdoor recreation and cooking. Whether youโ€™re camping, hunting, fishing, RVing, competing at your local Pig Fest, tailgating, or outfitting your mountain getaway, its design melds beautifully with those activities.

Then thereโ€™s that incredible weight capacity and the rock-solid stability of the legs. Itโ€™s an easy sell for jobsite use in place of sawhorses and plywood as a portable work surface for benchtop tools or materials you donโ€™t want on the ground. Project managers can use it as an on-site table for their mobile office. Speaking of mobile, the quick setup and easy cleanup are also a win for mobile mechanics.

While the accessories may not be the number one draw for tradesmen, itโ€™s such a great portable work surface that youโ€™re only limited by your imagination and the 38 x 20-inch top dimensions. Of course, that begs the questionโ€ฆ will Pecos make a bigger one???

Ready to try it for yourself? You can order the Pecos Table for $700. The top comes in Blanco or Buckskin, and there are four base leg colors to choose from. The workmanship is backed by a 1-year warranty.
