Here at Pro Tool Reviews, we’re always looking for excuses to fire up the grill—especially when it means putting Monument’s latest hardware through its paces. Over the past few years, we’ve tested several of the company’s models and come away impressed with their balance of value and performance. The Monument Grills Mesa 415BZ continues that trend, offering a sleek mid-size gas grill that delivers fast heating, easy control, and a surprising number of premium touches for under $500.

A few weekends ago, we set one up at our new house for a house-warming party, and by the end of the night—with ribs, burgers, and corn flying off the grates—we had a good sense of what this grill can do.

Monument Grills Mesa 415BZ Basics

The Mesa 415BZ features four stainless-steel burners beneath porcelain-enameled cast-iron grates, providing an even sear and excellent heat retention. You get 450 square inches of main cooking area plus an upper warming rack that adds another 180 square inches, for a total of 630 square inches of usable space.

To the left sits a 12,000 BTU side burner, perfect for sauces or for cooking sides while you grill. Altogether, the main burners and side unit deliver 62,000 BTUs—plenty for everyday grilling or big-batch meal prep.

During testing, we brought the temperature up to 500 °F in just under five minutes, which made preheating a non-issue. Keeping temps steady for a long indirect rib cook was equally effortless.

Controls and Ignition

Monument Grills includes a push-button electronic igniter on the Mesa 415BZ that fired on the first press every time—even with the knobs barely cracked open. The knobs have a smooth, precise glide and solid detents at max and off, giving you nice, tactile feedback.

White and red LED ring lights add visibility for low-light cooking, though they’re quite subtle during the day.

The on-board thermometer in the lid proved accurate when compared to an external temperature probe, letting us track cooking temps without having to lift the lid.

Monument Grills Mesa 415BZ Grilling Performance

A grill’s worth isn’t in its spec sheet—it’s in the cookout. For its first real test, we ran two racks of ribs low and slow using a two-zone indirect setup and roasted corn on the cob up top on the warming rack. Once the ribs came off, we turned up the heat and cranked out 24 burgers for 15 guests.

The Mesa 415BZ delivered steady heat throughout. We saw no significant flare-ups, and the food cooked evenly across the grates. Zone control worked flawlessly, letting us maintain a consistent low-and-slow temperature while keeping the side burners free for multitasking.

Cleanup was straightforward—the rear grease tray pulls out easily and requires only a quick wipe after cooking. The grates stayed in good shape, showing no warping or sticking even after several hours of grilling.

Build Quality and Assembly

Right out of the box, our Mesa 415BZ showed no dents or alignment issues, and setup was refreshingly simple. Thanks to Monument’s official YouTube assembly video, we were able to put it together in about an hour. Of course, you can use the included printed instructions if that’s more to your liking.

The cart’s powder-coated cabinet and stainless-steel lid feel sturdy, with a satisfying heft when opening and closing. Locking casters make it easy to roll across concrete (and even grass) with two people. Once positioned, it stays put for stable cooking.
