Makita EK6101 Power Cutter

The new Makita EK6101 Power Cutter breaks the 20-pound barrier for an industrial-performance, full-featured machine. Most other gas-powered cutters in this category weigh several pounds more, so users of other models will notice the difference.

According to Commercial Products Project Manager Adam Livingston, โ€œThe EK6101 has less weight than other power cutters in the category, and is engineered with efficiency features that include faster and easier starts, reduced maintenance, and improved fuel economy.ย This latest release in Makitaโ€™s concrete cutting line-up means that we can now offer a power cutter specific to most common user applications and needs.โ€

Makita EK6101 Power Cutter Improves Fuel Efficiency

This power cutter features a 4.4-horsepower unleaded gas motor. With the demands of industrial-level concrete cutting, thereโ€™s just not a good alternative to gas engines, but Makita doesnโ€™t use that as an excuse. Theyโ€™ve improved fuel efficiency by up to 20% by using a system called Stratified Air Scavenging (SAS). The system works by separating the burned fuel fumes from the unused fuel and cycling it back to the engine to use. This recycles up to 75% of the usually wasted fuel back to the engine.

A cyclonic air intake also helps save the air filter by separating larger debris and sending it out before it can reach the filter.

Makita EK6101 Power Cutter Starting, Noise, and Vibration

Starting is easier thanks to the reduced pull force required. To achieve this, the starting capacitor has a spring-assisted coil that helps store electrical energy. The stored energy means that the user doesnโ€™t have to work as hard to achieve a consistent start-up. Vibration has also been reduced in the EK6101. Sliding front engine mounts absorb vibration when the user applies cutting pressure. The noise level has been reduced to 97 dB(A) and is lower than that of the majority of other power cutters in the category.
