Makita 192972-4 Dust Collecting Cutting Guard with Shoe

Concrete cutting is easy. Concrete cutting with a lightweight and compact tool is tougher. Concrete cutting with such a tool and adequate dust collection to avoid nasty environmental rules finesโ€”well, thatโ€™s another story altogether. Makita worked on that this week when it released two new dust extractionย solutions for concrete and masonry contractors.ย Theย Makita 192972-4ย Dust Collectingย Cutting Guard with Shoe (model 192972-4) works with Makitaโ€™s 4-1/2โ€ณ and 5-inch Grinders.

Build Quality and Features

The Cutting Guard is ideal for a host of concrete and masonry applications, including cutting tile,ย concrete cutting, and brick, as well as specialized uses like tuck pointing and cutting expansion joints. The new Cutting Guard is made to be used alongside Makitaโ€™s (or other manufacturersโ€™) vacuum systems and really provides significant dust extraction on the jobsite. Particularly in light of new Lead Safe rules, this is becoming more and more of an issue with older commercial buildings as well as residential homes.

Using these tools is also much healthier for commercial contractors and professionals.

Makita had already released new dust collection accessories for their rotary hammers and commercial grinders, but the Makita 192972-4 Cutting Guard with Shoe (and its related model without the shoe) is the latest of Makitaโ€™s dust collection products.

Theย new 4-1/2โ€ณ โ€“ 5โ€ณ Dust Collecting Cutting Guard with Shoe is made out of steel and has an easy tool-less depth adjustment for setting the depth of cut when doing tuckpointing or simply cutting through tile or concrete. A large shoe is provided to deliver a level of stability that isnโ€™t as easy with shoeless shrouds or cutting guards. The 192972-4 Guard also includes a hose adapter that will fit most of the commercial vacuum hoses and systems on the market.
