Legrandโs new Pass & Seymour Enhanced LED Nightlight Outlet (TM8HWL-EWCC) lets you replace any outlet in a dark hallway, bathroom, or childโs bedroom with a combination LED nightlight and single outlet. The outlet features a decorator style, and the LED nightlight is ambient-sensitive, only coming on when the room is dark. The wall plate is sold separately, and the outlet is available in white, ivory, or light almond. For less than $17, this is a great product to feed off a GFCI in a bathroom or to place in a dark hallway or even a bedroom. The automatic LED, while bright, emits a reasonable level of light that is neither too dim nor too blinding.
LED Nightlight Outlet Features
The LED nightlight outletย itself is simple to wire and has easy-to-use terminals. The body is mostly plastic, and the entire outlet is definitely โspec homeโ grade, but we still see no reason why it wouldnโt last. Itโs unlikely to receive a lot of abuse if used in the intended manner.
We picked one up and installed it in a bathroom, piggybacking it off a GFCI circuit, so it was โstreet legalโ. Installation was a breeze, and we soon had it ready to go. We tested it by dimming the lights slightly, and overall, weโd say the LED is sensitive enough to come on when the lighting isnโt too bright, but its intensity also varies. That means that itโs not truly at maximum brightness until the room gets relatively dark. You can test how this works by placing your finger over the sensor of the LED nightlight outlet, which is mounted at the middle right of the outlet, just below the LED light.
This LED Nightlight Outlet from Legrand is available just about anywhere you can buy Legrandโs Pass & Seymour products (Loweโs has them for around $13). Pricing will vary depending upon which vendor or dealer you pick it up from.
