FibaTape just added a new drywall tape designed to add structural integrity to applications requiring drywall seams. The new FibaTape Extra Strength fiberglassย drywall mesh tape is being dubbed a โmulti-directional tapeโ and is suitable for applications requiring additional strength, such as vaulted ceilings, arches, and even plaster jobs. The new FibaTape Extra Strength Fiberglass Mesh Tape claims to be a full 60% stronger than standard mesh tape, and itโs also wider (a full 2-3/8โณ), so it delivers a naturally better gap coverage for joints and corners. Wider tape also means there is more tack, so it sticks better to surfaces and will facilitate easier covering with mud or plaster.
FibaTape Extra Strength Fiberglass Mesh Tape Features
The fiberglass mesh composition gives the FibaTape Extra Strength Fiberglass Mesh Tape the ability toย inhibit mold to a greater degree than paper tape, though this is also the case with standard mesh tape. Since the tape is self-adhesive, you can actually skip the pre-bedding coat and lay it down directly and quickly, saving time. Since it uses an open mesh, the flexible design helps keep blisters and bubbles from forming under the tape.
This fiberglass-reinforced drywall mesh tape looks pretty innovative. Fiberglass tape isnโt new, but this application for it should indeed provide some advantages, particularly when mudded in correctly. FibaTape indicates that their use of a multi-directional pattern provides additionalย fiberglass and allows for additional adhesive to minimize the effects of lateral movement in cracks and gaps.ย The new tape is, as youโd expect, very thin and light. Itโs easy to apply, easy to cut, and place for seamless coverage.
FibaTapeโs Extra Strength tape can be purchased in 2-3/8โณ x 250โฒ rolls, and each of the rolls is shrink-wrapped and designed for individual sale as well as bulk purchasing for contractors.
