Delta Contractors Saws Offer Power and Durability for Professionals
The new Delta Contractor Saws have us buzzing around with excitement! These four new 10 inch saws are built with professional use in mind and designed for the long haul. ย Letโs take a look at what Delta is offering from the ground up!
Starting with the stand that the Delta Contractor Saw sits on, we find a tubular design that provides support and stability. Although the saws are heavy (the lightest is 230 pounds), you can still move the saw around with the two fixed and one swivel wheel found on the base. The table top is made of cast iron and the extension wings are stamped so thereโs no confusion between the left and right sides.
One of the major points that Delta makes is that many contractor saws lose accuracy over time. The new Delta Contractor Saws deal with the issue at itโs source: the fence body. It is made from tubular steel and is welded to angle iron eliminating the need for adjustments over time. The aluminum extrusions are, of course, replaceable should they become damaged.ย The fence is a Biesemeyer style and features dual rip windows.
The rail system is a one piece design to help with the precision of cuts. ย There is a large, easy to access, on/off switch and the blade brake stops the blade within seconds of turning the unit off. The tool-free split guard design allows for a true rise and fall riving knife by use of a lever found on the inside of the throat plate. Both the riving knife and anti-kickback pawls feature tool-free assembly.
In addition to the above features, the ย 5052 and 5152 models also include a right hand extension board with support legs.
The term I saw over and over when reading about these Delta Contractor Saws is โHeavy Dutyโ. Itโs pretty clear in the information leading up to their release sometime around July that Delta is primed to enter these saws into the market and keep them around for a long time. Delta is backing their design with a 5 year warranty. Retail prices are expected to be between $1099.99 and $1499.99.
While Delta does have a model being exclusively sold at Loweโs, take it with a grain of salt. There are a lot of upgrades that weโve been told about over that model. While weโre told to expect widespread distribution, we donโt have specific retailers to mentionโฆ yet. Weโre looking to get one in for review soon, so keep an eye outย for more specifics when we get our hands on it!
