To innovate is an action. Innovation doesnโt take place by standing on the sidelines and observing other people doing what they do. Itโs trying something and failing, then figuring out how to make it work. Itโs seeing someone modify whatโs already there and working it out as a standard feature in your own design. Itโs raising the bar for what can be done. Itโs breaking through limitations. Itโs not listening to the doubters that say โit canโt be done.โ Itโs about physics and chemistry working together with engineers and product managers to produce some of the best tools on the planet. Thatโs the Pro Tool Innovation Awards.
We asked and they delivered. 40 different manufacturers submitted tools across more then 100 categories to determine if they had the most innovative products of 2014. We asked for everything from cordless, corded, pneumatic, and hand tools. For storage, clothing, and accessories. Anything that would potentially be used in the construction industry was fair game.
The tools that were submitted arenโt bargain bin clearance items, theyโre not average, theyโre not inside-the-box. Each one of these tools pushed the envelope in some way. Some tested the limits at the edge while others flew past the line like it never even existed.
Weโre seeing cordless tools that can outperform corded models. Tools that have been around for decades that are still being improved. Electricity is being converted into heat for clothing. Tools are getting smaller, lighter, stronger, and more powerful. Batteries are producing more power, running longer, and performing in conditions unthinkable before. Some people want to go to the moon, others are building the tools that can get them there.
